Well I got to hit the local range today. They had a pumkin shoot, and it was frickin' sweet! Lots o' cool weapons turned out. Some of the guys were toting full autos, not sure of the legality in these parts, but cool to see none the less.

I started out at the long gun range to zero a new glass,(cheapie bushnell 3x9, just to see if I would like it) but ended up putting the eotech xps back on and hit the plinking range with the pumkins. had an issue w/ my RRA rig, after the first four mags the rounds were hanging up on the ramp and jamming. The round would start to feed and then hang on the ramp right at the start of the brass. Same ammo I always use UMC L223R3, have not had this problem yet until today?  Took the lower off and did a quick clean up and relube (Mobile one synthetic), then worked flawlessly for another four mags then started hanging up again. Cleaned and relubed again, no further issue, however I had only shot 100 more rounds. When I got home I stripped her down, and found no burrs or any issue with the ramp other than carbon fouling, and a little dry. I am assuming I have just experienced first hand why most guys run the bcg "wet". I normally use hoppes gun oil on the bolt, lubed but not wet. I imagine the change to the mobile one requires a "wet" run.  I had brought out the AK also today, also preped with mobile one, 360 rounds of wolf black box and did not skip a beat. Go figure, cheap gun, cheap ammo... huh? Oh well a less than perfect day of shooting is still better than not shooting at all!

Sorry guys for not having any pictures to post. I am going thru a divorce and the CHEATING SKANK got the digital camera along with my house and way to much other stuff I dont have time to whine about right now. I plan on purchasing a new camera this week, so I'll try and get some pics up!

Hope all had a good weekend, happy shooting!

I've had a issue with mine hanging too. Mine gouges the bullet tip as it rides up. I've yet to fix mine. Hope you have better luck than me. Keep me updated if you figure it out.

I have heard of people having to or getting their ramps polished using dremel and cone shaped polish wheel and some ultra fine polishing compound. I would try running it wet first and then try a new mag if you have not already done that. I have a RRA and have had no problems yet.

I shot a medium size pumpkin at 100 yards with my 458 socom arming with 300 gr Barnes HP.  The entry hole was normal size but the exit hole was huge.  Sorry no photo taken.

I am in Southern IN, way too far for me to go up north.  I do go to IL from time to time to pick up my boys, tho.

Looked like fun.  Did you have to clean up the mess afterward?

This post needs more dead pumpkin.  Do I need to go out and shoot some pumpkins?  On Monday let's see some pumpkin shooting videos and pics from this weekend.  Who's with me?

Awesome!

Any other takers?  Don't cower in the corner, they're only pumpkins.

Oh snap Nog!  That's awesome.  I'm staring at a little pumpkin right now that's sitting on the table.  I need to blast it for you guys and post up a video or pic. I'll see what I can do.

Ok, so I finally got outside with my Remington today and put a few rounds downrange at Mr. Pumpkin. I didn't get the explosion of the pumpkin I thought I'd get, but it did the trick.  RIP Mr. Pumpkin.

-I used my Remmy .308 and Federal Vital-Shok 180gr Trophy Bonded Tipped ammo.

-Range to target - 200 yards (exactly).

-Shots fired (3) and a "click"...haha.

My first shot hit my mark, second shot hit about 1.5"- 2" high and the head shot on the steel was about 2" high and 1" left.  Hunting ammo, accurate, but not matchgrade!  Here ya go and I'm sorry I couldn't edit the video down some in length:

Part I

Part II

Part III

I didn't know before this year, pumpkin lauching was a competitive thing.  I'm builing a Treille-Bouchete for next year!  Gotta give the French credit for SOMETHING, they know how to catapult gourds for distance!

Good stuff Recoil!  Glad to see some people jumping on board.  I'll pick out a few this evening when I head to the grocery.

Come on CJ.  Get the pumpkins before they get you.  ;-)

Well no pumpkins at the two stores I stopped at on the way out of town.  I did manage to shoot up some yellow squash and beer bottles though.

NOG,

Great job eradicating those green and yellow invaders from your fire pit!  I don't think they'll be back to bother you anymore.

Okay, I didn't have any pumpkins or a tripod so I did the next best thing and took out a can of pumpkin.

Sorry about not having a tripod. This what shot at a hundred yards with my smart ass quoting Shooter in the video. Using a 168 Grain Hornady BTHP out of my XCR Compact Tactical.

Hey I had big plans to clear out a nice area and take some long shots.  No Bobcat this weekend, maybe next.  Nice shot IP.  I don't feel as bad about not finding a Pumpkin now.
