We have three primary objectives here:

1) Provide a permanent, organized, searchable repository of firearms data free to all users.

2) Encourage firearm owners to increase their firearm activity through talking with other firearm aficionados in their local area, as well as joining local groups and helping to fight firearm legislation issues in their area.

3) Fight anti-firearm legislation issues whenever possible, and encourage all users to do the same.

Our first goal is to provide a free, organized repository of firearms data to the public. To that end, the forums and advanced search engine are both available to the entire public. The firearms database, legal database and library are not yet open, however they will eventually help advance this goal.

Our second objective is to encourage firearm owners to participate in nearby activities, and get more involved with firearms in general. The entire site has a local feature built in - you will find this in the profile form after you register. Currently, the forums and search engine are the only feature open to the public that uses your local preference: The topic display automatically shows any threads that are close to you. The groups & events features are not open to the public quite yet, but will provide a fast resource for informing people of local firearm events, and local firearms organizations. Part of that goal is to make some of the people that are interested in firearms start a lifelong hobby. Another element is to encourage existing firearm owners to take them out of the safe, and start a lifelong love. The best possible way to do that is if they find people to shoot with, and events to shoot at nearby.

We also want to accommodate smaller firearm boards to that end, especially ones serving small regions. If you are a non-profit organization, you may post links and information about your group in the forums. Non-profit organizations will also be welcomed to join our groups system once we open it to the public. If you are a for-profit company, please refrain from self promotion at this time - we will remove all for-profit promotions and permanently remove repeat offenders from the site. If you are a for-profit company, please wait until our advertising system is open. It will offering something unique to the firearms community: the capability to advertise locally online, as well as full accommodation for even the smallest businesses. Our advertising system will operate under pay-per-click billing, meaning that you only pay if your advertisement campaign is successful and you can advertise with even the most limited budget. It also uses advanced statistics, you will never pay for any automated scripts, and you can see where your traffic is coming from. Although we are opening with limited features, this site is not "just" another firearms board.

Give us some time and the forums will take a back seat to the rest of the site.

Lastly, we are not going to sit idly by as legislation issues overtake us. We are not going to watch as the lawmakers chip away at our rights on a daily basis. We will help fight the legislation and media battles personally, as well as encouraging our users to fight those battles right along side us. AR-15.COM is not a political organization, nor do we pretend to be. However, when the going gets tough we will stop at nothing to fight any ban on any firearm, and we will work to revoke the existing ones on the books. Currently, we have limited resources, but as the site grows we will dedicate more resources towards this objective. Some people believe it is best to send their money away to a select few representatives, who supposedly speak for you. Our organization, on the other hand believes it is best for everyone to speak up collectively against any issue, no matter how small.

All features will be available for free registered members - you will never feel the need to upgrade to a team membership unless you want to help support the site & gain 'novelty' features. Searching the forums or our databases, viewing old archives and full use of the site will be available to anyone that registers.

This is a firearms organization build by American firearms advocates to fill a gap and make a stand against a growing anti-firearm sentiment in this country, and to add new free information resources for the public to use. The best firearm owner and advocate will always be a well informed one.

Best regards,

I tried unsuccesfully to register last year.  After several tries I gave up.  I am pleased that I was able to do so under your new format.  Thanks.

Sorry you had problems Dirigo.  I'm glad you're here now though.  Stick around, things are going to get really exciting here in the near future.  We're going to be moving to a new and improved website.
